We're Always Asking Questions.
What exactly does DAWNING do?
Since our founding in 2014, two things remain the same: with every new project we start from zero, and we are in a constant process of reinvention. DAWNING has worked in multiple countries on a variety of social and environmental justice issues including migration, displacement, women’s rights, indigenous rights, climate, and conflict resolution. We partner with international nonprofits, private companies, foundations and multilateral organizations to make it happen.
You can read about our services, our ethical principles and values, and our core team , and see all our projects on this website.
Who makes up DAWNING?
DAWNING is run day-to-day by a core team of dedicated professionals who work from around the world and travel as project leaders any time we conduct fieldwork. Since our founding, we have collaborated with over 150 individuals from more than 25 countries. We don’t subcontract work. For each project, the core DAWNING team invites world-class specialists to join the mission. We are not divided in cubicles. We do real teamwork: for every project we do, every team member works very closely together with one another.
How can I support DAWNING?
DAWNING operates as a privately owned company registered in Washington, DC, but we are fiscally sponsored by a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization for special projects. We accept grants and donations from individuals and organizations aligned with our mission and values. If you are interested in supporting DAWNING, please contact us.
Who does DAWNING work with?
We mostly work with international nonprofit organizations, companies and multilateral institutions. Some of our recent clients are The Global Fund to End Modern Slavery, Water.org, Newton Europe, and the World Bank Group. Occasionally, we work pro-bono. We invite you to read about our services and get in touch with us if you would like to explore opportunities to engage DAWNING.
DAWNING also partners with media companies, publishers and cultural institutions. We have published our work with The New York Times, The Washington Post, Al Jazeera, Politico Magazine, Roads & Kingdoms, BBC, The Guardian, El Pais, and Die Zeit, among others.
How can we work together?
We are a friendly, warm and extraordinarily passionate team, and we love to hear from organizations and people who are interested in what we do.
If you would like to engage DAWNING, get in touch with us. We have to be selective about what projects we do and with whom, but we are very accessible and we love to explore new opportunities. For us, everything starts with a conversation.
If you would really like to join the DAWNING team, please contact us. We cannot answer every email, but if we think you are a potentially good fit for a project, we will get back to you as soon as we are ready.
